Earlier this year, Guideway unveiled FinTalk, an AI tool that translates meeting recordings into compliant advice file notes by analyzing client discussions. Chris Garlick, Guideway’s executive manager, highlighted that this tool streamlines the note-taking process, saving advisers approximately 45 minutes per client meeting.
Building on the success of FinTalk, Guideway developed an AI adviser capable of engaging in interactive conversations with clients through a chatbot interface. This AI avatar complements the human adviser-client relationship, offering a unique approach to advice delivery.
The AI avatar creation process involves recording an adviser in a professional studio to capture facial expressions and speech patterns. Subsequently, the AI tool generates a digital avatar of the adviser for video presentations, replacing traditional lengthy PDF documents with concise 15-minute video Statements of Advice (SOAs).
Garlick emphasized the transformative impact of this avatar service, citing significant time savings for advisers and paraplanners. By freeing up to 90 minutes per day, advisers can focus on business growth and client acquisition while enhancing the client experience through personalized video advice presentations.
The Quality of Advice Review (QAR) underscores the importance of comprehensive record-keeping in the financial advisory sector. Garlick noted that AI tools are essential for meeting regulatory requirements and anticipates a significant reduction in advice production time as QAR recommendations are legislated.
Despite initial resistance from some licensees due to data security concerns, Garlick believes that embracing AI solutions will become crucial for remaining competitive in the industry. Many advisers are considering self-licensing to leverage innovative technologies that enhance client engagement and operational efficiency.
While concerns about AI impacting paraplanner roles exist, Garlick emphasized that AI complements rather than replaces their expertise. Paraplanners play a vital role in advising strategy formulation and client documentation, ensuring a seamless backend operation.
Guideway’s AI paraplanning avatar has garnered substantial interest, with half of the internal paraplanners already utilizing video SOAs.
